Yoga Styles

Whichever style of yoga you choose to practice, all are heavily focused on the breath. Staying with your breath is the most important part of your practice, because if you are not breathing properly you are not practicing yoga, you are just having a physical workout.

Hatha Yoga

Emphasis on learning the classical postures, maintaining correct alignment and focusing on the breath.

Hatha Flow/Dynamic Hatha Flow

Hatha Flow is a sequence of postures that flow together using the breath, enabling the mind and body to unite, thus making your practice a moving meditation. In my classes I normally hold the postures for around 10 breaths.  This helps to build strength and flexibility and gives the practitioner time to notice what they are feeling in the body. These dynamic classes require a higher level of fitness and suited to those who have no major injuries or physical limitations. My strong creative sequences offer variations and modifications to suit all levels, although some experience of yoga would be helpful, and will leave you feeling energised.

Yin Yoga

Yin is a slow-paced style of yoga, incorporating principles of traditional Chinese medicine, helping to improve energy flow and release blockages. It’s a simple practice, but simple does not mean easy. Postures are practiced mostly seated or lying down supported by lots of props and held for 3-5 minutes. Holding these poses helps to target the deeper connective tissues, ligaments, joints, bones, cartilage and fascia.  Excess tension, built up through unaware living or past frozen traumas/injuries locked in our tissues, may then be released and stress levels reduced.
